How To Be a Sales Superstar

Mark Tewart has a new book out called How to Be a Sales Superstar: Break All the Rules and Succeed While Doing It. The book starts off with a number of over used expressions like “sales is not a dirty word” and “nothing happens unless someone sells something”. My first reaction was same old same old. Then I arrived at chapter two “Creating the Mind of a Sales Superstar” and my interest was peaked.
As I kept reading I was enjoying the writing style and the practical suggestions made. I was sold by the time I got to “It’s All About Attitude”; here Mark goes beyond the platitudes and provides tangible and helpful ideas. I particularly liked his comments and promotion of exercise to improve attitude. We’re on the same wavelength when he describes the positive impact endorphins have on the brain during a good workout.
The author touches on some practical marketing ideas and offers great commentary on the sales process. His insights are bang on when he states 90% of salespeople underachieve. The book finishes strong with a chapter “The Johnny Carson Principle”. Some reading this may be too young to remember the great late talk show host. His success can be your success, but you have to read the book to figure out that works. On my subjective scale for practicality I rate the book an 8 out of 10, for readability 9 out of 10, and an 8 our of 10 for content. In summary, a thumbs up.
