What are you giving this Christmas?

I’m sure many have created a list of items they want for Christmas. We do in our house – it gets stuck up on the fridge late November. This year my wife even put up a list of what NOT to get. I thought this was an interesting twist.
I believe Christmas is a time to think about what you GIVE as opposed to get.
It’s been a very difficult year for many in 2009. The economy was downright mean. It will be a bleak season for some, but others did well during the year and can well afford to consider a special gift.
In this post I want to ask those that can, to consider a gift to someone you don’t know. Giving to someone you’ll never meet but you know is in need is one of the neatest gifts you can make.
This gift can take many forms. I have an appointment on Friday to give blood. My pint will go to someone I’ll never meet. You can give to a local food bank, the United Way, the Salvation Army, or any of the thousands of charities out there. You can give food items, cash or volunteer your time. The point is to give.
If you don’t know who to support, join me in raising funds for a great cause called the Kids, Cops & Computers program run by the Merry Go Round Children’s Foundation. Funds are used to purchase new computers and internet access for at-risk kids and pair them up with a police officer “eBuddy”. Click on this link to visit my personal page to make a contribution. It can be $5 or $50, every amount helps. And if not here, I challenge you to contribute somewhere, to someone less fortunate.
